Professor Jon von Kowallis’s new book, “A Bilingual Treatise on Lu Xun’s Old-Style Poetry” (中英对照鲁迅旧体诗) has been granted an award of ¥50,000 from the Chinese government. In addition to presenting Lu Xun’s old-style poetry in a bilingual format, the book talks about Prof Kowallis’s role in treaching translation at UNSW and discusses his position on the translation of Chinese poetry into English, alongside a number of the salient issues in the annotation and exegesis of Lu Xun’s old-style poetry in schoalrly circles over the last sixty years.
