O-Week 2017

The Confucius Institute stall at UNSW’s O-Week catches the attention of new students.

| 24 Feb 2017

On February 20-22, the Confucius Institute at UNSW ran a stall at O-Week, the university’s start-of-semester orientation event. Over the three days, our teachers, interns and ambassadors talked to countless new students interested in getting involved and learning about the wide range of opportunities and events run by the Confucius Institute.

This year the Confucius Institute embraced the theme of “China Red” in the design of its handouts and eye-catching stall decoration. The eye-catching stall attracted considerable traffic throughout O-Week and saw over 460 new students signing up, more than double the number last year.

Many expressed their enthusiasm and interest in the various cultural activities and study initiatives organised by the Confucius Institute, including Chinese Corner, our scholarship program, cultural seminars and Chinese Bridge Competition. During O-Week, many Chinese international students also visited the stall and expressed their eagerness to join as Cultural Ambassadors to help promote understanding and further links between China and Australia.
