On the 13th of May, the final round of the “Sydney Hanfu Ambassador Event” was held at Sydney Town Hall. Ms. Zhu Mengyu, a student from UTS showed great energy against the other 12 candidates and came first in this year’s Sydney Hanfu Ambassador Event.

Confucius Institute at UNSW Sydney has previously collaborated with the Sydney Hanfu Ambassadors and has continued to support the “Hanfu Ambassador Event”. A/Prof. Junfang Xi, Chinese Director, was invited to present the “Australian Hanfu Promotion Ambassador” award to Ms. Qu Dina. Tracy Liu, Senior Cultural Events Officer, was also invited to present the award to the second-place winner, Zhang Jiaer.

The “Han Fu Ambassador” program was first launched in August 2016. It aims to reinforce culture exchange between Australia and China while promoting Chinese traditional culture in overseas. The HFA project places a stronger emphasis on the introduction as well as the presentation of Traditional Chinese Clothing called “Han Fu” and correspondent headwear in different dynasty.

The HFA project reinforces traditional Chinese cultural education through Chinese history, etiquette and arts; which the Confucius Institute at UNSW Sydney also strives to achieve through various events.
